Question 1

How is UFoundMe! different from other solutions?

Accepted Answer

UFoundMe! is not a GPS tracker. It is a secure communication bridge between a finder and the people caring for an animal. Your contact details stay hidden. The tag works without an app, battery or SIM through QR and NFC (silicone and large metal tags); it can complement a tracker but does not replace one.

Question 2

How does UFoundMe! work?

Accepted Answer

Once activated, the tag is linked to the pet’s profile. A finder scans the QR code or reads the tag (NFC: silicone and large metal tags), sees only the useful information you selected and messages you through UFoundMe!. You and authorised trusted contacts are notified.

Question 3

Can I share access with my trusted circle?

Accepted Answer

Yes. You can invite relatives to receive alerts and reply. Each person uses their own secure access; you remain the profile owner and may remove a member at any time.

Question 4

How many tags can I link to my account?

Accepted Answer

You can manage several tags in one account. Each tag is linked to one pet at a time and has its own activation. Professional or unusually large-scale use may require a specific plan.

Question 5

How do you ensure the tag cannot track me?

Accepted Answer

The tag has no GPS, SIM card, battery or active transmitter. It stays passive until scanned. A location can only be sent by the finder’s phone after an explicit action and consent.

Question 6

What does “communicate anonymously” mean?

Accepted Answer

Finder and owner can talk without automatically revealing a phone number, email or postal address. UFoundMe! acts as a secure intermediary. Either person may later share details voluntarily; essential technical data is still processed for operation, security and legal duties.

Question 7

What happens when someone finds my pet?

Accepted Answer

The finder scans the tag, sees the useful information and can send a message. You and your trusted circle receive an alert through enabled channels and arrange the return inside UFoundMe! without exposing private details.

Question 8

Does the finder need to install an app?

Accepted Answer

No. A smartphone with a web browser is enough. UFoundMe! opens directly after a QR scan or NFC (silicone and large metal tags) read, with no account or download required.

Question 9

How do I scan the tag’s QR code?

Accepted Answer

Open the phone camera, point it clearly at the QR code and tap the link shown on screen. If the camera does not recognise it, an existing QR reader can be used.

Question 10

How do I use NFC on the tag (silicone tag and large metal tag)?

Accepted Answer

Unlock the phone, make sure NFC is on and hold its top or back near the tag for one or two seconds. Tap the notification to open UFoundMe!. The reading area varies by device. The small metal tag has no NFC: scan its QR code.

Question 11

What if the phone has no NFC?

Accepted Answer

Use the QR code, which is on all three tags. QR and NFC (silicone tag and large metal tag) open the same secure page, so the tag remains compatible with most smartphones.

Question 12

Does the tag work without a battery?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The QR code is printed and the passive NFC (silicone and large metal tags) chip briefly receives energy from the reading phone. Nothing needs charging, switching on or replacing.

Question 13

Is the tag a GPS tracker?

Accepted Answer

No. UFoundMe! does not show a live position or track movement. It helps once someone finds the pet and scans the tag, and may be used alongside a true GPS tracker.

Question 14

Does the tag work throughout Europe?

Accepted Answer

Yes, whenever a compatible phone has internet access. QR and NFC (silicone and large metal tags) are not tied to a particular mobile operator or country. The service may also work outside Europe where internet and the platform are available.

Question 15

Is the tag resistant to rain, mud and water?

Accepted Answer

Yes. All three tags (silicone, large metal and small metal) are IP67: they resist dust, rain, splashes and temporary immersion under the standard’s conditions. Inspect the tag after impact, biting or prolonged immersion.

Question 16

Which collars can the tag be attached to?

Accepted Answer

With the suitable fastening, the tag fits most common collars and harnesses. Secure it firmly and visibly without disturbing the animal; check compatibility first for a very thin, wide or unusual collar.

Question 17

How can I check that my tag works?

Accepted Answer

Scan it with a phone where you are not signed in, or in a private browser window, and check the public profile. To test the alert, send a short message from that page: you should receive the email, and the SMS if your number is verified. Test monthly and after an impact or collar change.

Question 18

How do I pair my UFoundMe! tag?

Accepted Answer

My Studio guides you through five steps: 1. Create the card; 2. Activate annual service; 3. Publish QR code; 4. Pair the tag: scan the QR code of the unpaired tag, a 6-digit code appears on your phone, then enter it in the Studio and choose the pet; 5. Be reachable: scan the tag again to check the public card, then send yourself a test message to check the alert.

Question 19

Can I change the information linked to the tag?

Accepted Answer

Yes. From your account you can update the photo, pet details, useful instructions and visible information. The online card changes without replacing or reprinting the tag.

Question 20

My pet has passed away, or I want to use the tag for another pet: how does it work?

Accepted Answer

In My Studio, choose “Manage the card” on the pet’s card, then “My pet has passed away”: the card turns grey and stays private in your Studio, and its tag stays on your account. You can put the card back online at any time. The Tags tab lists your tags, worn by a pet or set aside. A tag set aside is paired with another of your pets using “Pair with…”, with no code. You can also give it away: it leaves your account and whoever receives it scans it and pairs it on their own account with the 6-digit code shown. The remaining service follows the tag: unused days of Protection are added to the card of the next pet it is paired with, even on another account, within 12 months.

Question 21

What should I do if I have several pets?

Accepted Answer

Add every pet to the same account and give each one its own tag. You then manage everything in My Studio while keeping separate profiles, instructions and trusted circles.

Question 22

Can I temporarily deactivate a tag?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Temporary deactivation stops the normal contact journey while preserving the link in your account. Reactivate it before putting it back on the collar.

Question 23

What should I do if a tag is lost, stolen or damaged?

Accepted Answer

Deactivate it immediately in your account. You can then activate a replacement for the same pet. A deactivated tag cannot locate you or disclose personal contact details.

Question 24

Can I replace a tag without recreating the profile?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The pet profile belongs to your account, not the physical tag. Link the replacement to the existing profile to retain information and trusted-circle settings.

Question 25

What information can a finder see?

Accepted Answer

Only what helps identify and return the pet, such as name, photo, approach advice, important medical information or contact language. Account, billing and administration data never appear on the public card.

Question 26

Do my phone number and email stay hidden?

Accepted Answer

Yes, by default. Messages go through UFoundMe!. They become visible only if you deliberately display an emergency number or share contact details in the conversation.

Question 27

Can I choose which information I share?

Accepted Answer

Yes. You decide what is public, restricted to the trusted circle or strictly private, and may change it at any time. Share only what genuinely helps bring the pet home safely.

Question 28

Are conversations with the finder stored?

Accepted Answer

Messages and necessary technical data are retained for the conversation, support, abuse prevention and security. Conversations are deleted within 30 days, except a separately reported case kept only as long as strictly necessary.

Question 29

Is my personal data protected under GDPR?

Accepted Answer

UFoundMe! follows GDPR principles: data minimisation, clear purposes, protected access, access and correction rights, deletion and controlled processors. The privacy notice explains the controller, legal bases, retention, recipients and rights contact.

Question 30

Can I permanently delete my account and data?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Request deletion through your account or support after identity verification. Tags are disabled and data deleted or anonymised, except records temporarily required by law, accounting, security or legal claims.

Question 31

How am I notified when someone finds my pet?

Accepted Answer

A scan alone does not send an alert: you are notified as soon as the finder writes to you or calls you from the card. You receive an email with the conversation link. With Protection, you also receive an SMS if you have verified your phone number (at most two SMS per conversation), an email reminder at most every 10 minutes if the finder writes again without a reply, and your trusted circle is notified by email. With Essential, only the first alert email is sent. With Protection, you can also ask the finder in the chat to share their location; they remain free to decline, and UFoundMe! is not a GPS tracker.

Question 32

What if the finder does not want to communicate?

Accepted Answer

A scan alone is not reported to you, and UFoundMe! cannot force anyone to message, call, share a location or reveal identity. Continue the usual search through vets, shelters, official registers and local networks.

Question 33

Is the tag suitable for cats?

Accepted Answer

The silicone tag measures 33 × 33 mm, plus its loop, and the large metal tag Ø 33 mm. For a small cat, choose the small metal tag: Ø 28 mm, 3 g, QR only (no NFC). For a cat that goes outdoors, accepts a suitable collar and can be approached, UFoundMe! is a useful complement to the official microchip, which it never replaces. Launch offer until 8 March 2027: the €24.70 tag (VAT included) unlocks a free 15-month activation (first year free + a 3-month welcome pack); after that, each 12-month renewal costs €17.90 including VAT. Shipping is charged separately. For an indoor cat, its main benefit is in case of an accidental escape. Always check that the collar and tag do not restrict the animal’s movement or comfort.

Question 34

What happens if I do not renew Protection?

Accepted Answer

After the grace period, the card moves to Essential. The tag, QR, NFC (silicone and large metal tags), name, photo and useful details remain accessible without a time limit. Essential keeps the private chat, without translation and without audio or video calls; the first alert e-mail is still sent. What stops: translation, audio and video calls, location sharing, media in the chat, quick replies, SMS alerts, lost mode, history and the trusted circle. Your private contact details are never published. The tag therefore never goes silent and there is no automatic renewal.

Question 35

Can the finder call me?

Accepted Answer

Yes, with Protection. From the conversation, the finder can start an audio or video call directly in the browser, with no app. You receive an email, and an SMS if your number is verified, with the link to answer; the call rings for three minutes. Neither person’s phone number or IP address is shown to the other, and calls are not recorded. With Essential, the private chat remains available, without audio or video calls.

Question 36

What if the finder speaks another language?

Accepted Answer

With Protection, the card and the conversation are available in 50 languages: each person writes in their own language and messages are translated automatically for the other. With Essential, the chat stays private but without translation. Machine translation can be imprecise: keep important information simple and check the reply.
